It can also tell when I have changed the security settings on the router, as it will say "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network. If so, then it must be a problem with the PC60G wireless adapter. I even tried the latest MSI driver, which is older than the latest Ralink driver, and that still did not work. I use WPA encryption.. I blew off Vista to go back to XP for various other reasons. Have you tried rolling back to pre-SP1 to see if it works and if it is the SP1 upgrade that is the problem as both sets of drivers are pre-SP1.
On Jul 13, pm, w I have removed this wireless adapter from the Network and Sharing Center, ensured that the machine is part of the domain, uninstalled the wireless adapter which is also a Linksys product , ensured the latest version of the driver and tried just about all the troubleshooting tricks I can think of. I've seen this identified as a problem in a few threads but no definitive resolution.
Update: Well after alot more troubleshooting I've determined that this is definitely a Windows Vista problem. If I plug a different adapter into the computer that works on a different computer I get the same problem.
I was on the phone with Linksys for an hour and and they basically threw in the towel and gave me a RMA for their adapter, although I doubt that will solve the problem. Is there some registy entry for defining the type of authentication for a wireless adapter?
It seems like Vista keeps thinking that this is the wrong authentication mechanism. Is it possible to 'repair' the wireless service in Windows? OK, I think the real issue is that this Windows Vista does not have the WPA2 security type to select which is what the router is broadcasting. Is there a way to enter this somehow? Same issue, the NETw4v32 error never stops populating the event log. I have several machines, Toshiba, Dell that all have the exact same issue on Vista.
What poor quality. I was going to try to replace the card with an Atheros card, but on the Toshiba it requires way too much disassembly to get to the mini-pci card. Saturday, May 26, PM. There's an updated driver there now. Trying now. I have also tried that dirver version and still doing the same, with timeout message and such.
I've tried 3 routers: Belkin, Netgear, now TrendNet. Sunday, May 27, AM. With the latest I've rolled back to the inbox driver that came with Vista RTM. My guess is, those on this thread in the past with no posting of current issues has rolled back to the inbox. Monday, May 28, PM.
Is anyone using the ProSet software the Intel provides and any luck with it and the latest drivers? I wonder if that's why some folks are no longer reporting issues. Another question, I'm potentially going to replace the abg card, but I started down the path with a Toshiba M5 and it requires quite a bit of disassembly.
Any pointers on the level of disassembly? Tuesday, May 29, AM. Is anybody know howto launch Intel Wireless Proset connection utility in Vista? Now in Vista there isn't a good driver from Intel and I cannot find the custom Intel connection tool, so I can't connect to my router. I don't know if it's a driver issue or a vista fault but I can connect in XP and Ubuntu, but not in Vista. My router doesn't support wpa2 so that is not an option.

Monday, June 4, AM. Tuesday, June 5, PM. You know on a side note ive seen in the warm weather is that the intel wireless card in my pc tends to shut down in the heat of the day. It will be running and then all of a sudden loose connection and not find my wireless router. It got annoying enough i had to do wired connection.
Ive ended up shutting down the computer and running the fan in my room. Nothing else is effected on pc except the wireless card. Wednesday, June 6, AM. Thursday, June 7, AM. Now it works. Please check: "Connect automatically when this network is in range" "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting" in Wireless properties.
I dechecked IPV6 too. I hope this suggest works for everybody Ciao Gianluca. Thursday, June 7, PM. I am having this issue on an acer with an Atheros arG. Here is what I have posted to Acer OEM windows - pre-installed rubbish - would rather have had XP When connecting to a linksys wireless router, the machine will not connect, the acer software actually pops up a message saying "internet disconnected" and when you diagnose, it reports as a time out.
The laptop was bought just so my partner ould work from home, so it is now pretty redundant. A recovery will normally wipe the machine to the state it was in when you purchased it. I got no problem to connect to a network with no encryption and wep encryption. But no way to connect to a wpa encrypted network So I upgraded to the V At first Vista home premium didn't recognize it, so I have installed a first driver which was a V5.
Thus I got the device working with no encryption and wep encrypted networks, but not with a wpa ecrypted network. As there was very few options with this driver, I have installed an newer one V6. And with it, it's working very well whith WPA encrypted network So in my case everything was a driver-based failure Friday, June 8, PM.

I found out more information about the wireless connection at work, it is WPA off of a radius server and it works just fine for windows xp, but not for vista.
I have verified my credentials with the supervisor and everything is fine. The only people that are having problems is those with Vista. The latest firmware update that was released by Linksys has been updated on the router, so the blame has shifted again to Vista Thursday, June 14, PM. Disabling IPv6 worked for me. Friday, June 15, AM. Everything was fine in XP. I don't particularly want to buy a new router Sunday, June 17, AM. Hope it helps u in any way. Good luck.
Tuesday, June 19, AM. I thought I had solved it disabling IPv6 because it worked just one time but yesterday I started Vista and still cannot connect to my router. I'll keep waiting for a solution, I gess.

Right ok, Having been on an upgrade programme at work to upgrade all our routers upgraded to netgear dgg from 3com office connect I believe that one of the main causes for this problem is the officeconnect router.

When I checked out Belkin's website regarding compability of my router with Vista - it indicated that Vista would have the driver required already included. No luck. Spent 2 hours last night with Dell's tech help - they are perplexed. Going to continue working with Dell to see if they can help me. My old XL laptop works just fine!
Saturday, July 7, PM. I cannot connect with WPA v1. The router doesn't have WPA2 capabilities. I tried some of the proposed solutions but none worked.
