This problem has existed since I tried LiveUpdate as early as last week. Funny thing, the automatic version comes on, appears to connect to the server and viewing the program's progress via task manager appears to be doing something for at least twenty minutes or so before it shuts off.
But, when I use the LiveUpdate directly from the NIS interface it , after about a couple of seconds of trying it abruptly ceases and gives me the error message. There are so many cheap offerings out there of NIS, you really should get it. You could look for NIS and maybe get it even cheaper. I'll convince my mother to purchase NIS since I know the frustration of infected computers first hand. A couple of years back we had networked computers that got infected by an awful virus.
At the time we were using that cheap AVG software that did work on basic viruses but failed to protect against the infection. We ended up getting a cleaner program and had to scrub both hard drives of the virus. Since then, those two old PC never were the same. Anyways, thanks a lot for your help. The one linked wasn't displayed on the main Intelligent Updater page. Did you try all the suggestions in the link that yogesh provided earlier, including downloading the latest version of LiveUpdate? It is possible that there is malware that is preventing you from updating that program.
As has already been mentioned, there is so much malware out there now and the old product really can't cut it.
